MIXING

When it comes to fashion, I only have one rule: there are no rules! No white after Labor Day! Says who? Navy and Black is a no-go! Maybe if you're living in the last century. Red/White/Blue is only for National Holidays! Umm, what. I don't subscribe to any of it. To me, fashion is about self-expression and fun. Turn to - the outfit pictured, here.

First, let's just talk about the mixing of patterns. I have three going on here (top, skirt, and clutch) and it all works. Don't get scared by a mix of bold prints- you can rock this look, too, with very little effort. Just be sure that no one pattern overpowers the others in the overall outfit. And, pay attention to the basic colors you're trying to mix. Innate tones should be meshed in synchrony.

Second, onto the specifics. This summery skirt, an NBD staple (color: Pewter, size: S) is perfect for warmer temps and early fall (picture: leather jacket, black booties, and tights). The shirt (which I bought 8 years ago!) is a classic nautical switcheroo, red for blue, and similar items can be found at major stores, such as Zara, Club Monaco and Jcrew (similar here). The clutch, one of my favorite go-to bold colored accessories in my closet, is a Clare V. original (color: Poppy & Cream Net).

I'm wearing this out in the City today, but you best be sure I'll rock all the pieces well into the fall past (gasp!) the Labor Day weekend! If an outfit works, you work it well - no matter the colors, season, or trends. Head to @girlplustwo today for a continued scoop!
