"THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW"

If you were anywhere in the Northeast this weekend, you’ll know we had quite the snowstorm! Luckily, my boys and I were prepared for a day of quality time together. They go to sleep pretty early, so they were not awake to see the first flakes come down Friday night, but when they got up Saturday morning-they were so excited!

Growing up on the other side of the world, I don’t really have such associations with snow, but seeing my sons react to the neighborhood just covered in a blanket of white, I felt like a child myself. New York got over two feet (60 cm!) of it overnight, so we knew it would be a while before we went out. While we waited for the roads to get cleared, we snuggled up on the couch under a blanket and watched a movie together. It was the perfect mother-son morning! Then we made up our minds to venture outdoors, starting with our first hot chocolate of the season.

It was incredible- truly a winter wonderland! I decided to take them to the park, and they had an absolute blast. It wasn’t even that cold midday, with our aptly prepared snow-gear (and my fave DIY ripped jeans lol!), we were all set. I even broke out the Doc Martens I got for Burning Man last year…they worked just as well on the powder as they did in the desert!

Storms like this always put us on edge, but I feel like it made a real difference, happening on a weekend when most people weren’t rushing anywhere. I think whoever was lucky enough to be snowed in with their loved ones would agree that it was a great opportunity for some much-needed chill time.

I have to say, though, as much as we love the snow, our family adores the sun and beach even more. That’s why we are counting down the days to…our annual family trip to Israel! So enjoy this snowy city and look out for some sunny pics from yours truly ;)
