LET YOUR HUBBY TAKE OVER BREAKFAST...

The morning school rush is probably one of the most stressful times of my day - I’m sure most moms can relate! That’s why I asked Noam to clock in for one “morning shift” a week, and with the help of Ozery Bakery he was willing to take on the challenge ;). This company takes all the crust and fuss out of assembling sandwiches for the kids and everything is made from whole grains and seeds so I feel great about giving these to Yuli and Orii for school lunches.

The sandwich buns are pre-sliced and free of any artificial flavors. Noam simply stuffs each one with the kids’ favorite sandwich combos and they are good to go in their lunchboxes - 5 minutes max! And the snacking rounds are amazing for breakfast. Just toast them up and add peanut butter or fruit spreads for a quick, filling and nutritious meal the kids can eat on-the-go. Yuli’s favorite is the Apple Cinnamon flavor - he loves the fact that it reminds him of french toast, and I love the fact that there are real chunks of apple in each round. The flavor is so tasty that he doesn’t even ask for anything inside the bun. Trusting Naom with breakfast duty has never been so easy! I just make sure the Ozery rounds are set out on the counter for him the night before and I know I can have some more me time the next morning for emails, work or a little extra snooze time :)

For lunch, there’s no easier option than a sandwich with some veggies, fruit or yogurt on the side. The Ozery Bakery buns remind me of pita bread, so we like to create a spin on an Israeli classic for the kids to take to school. It’s loaded up with nutritious veggies and tastes like home. The best part about it is the fact that the bun holds everything together so there aren’t any crumbles or breaking pieces when the kids eat lunch at school. Check out our Israeli Childhood Sandwich below, and a spin on French Toast for those mornings, like this Sunday morning, when you find some extra time, or when your husband is taking over, again :-)

Israeli Childhood Sandwich (Makes 1 Sandwich)

1 OneBun Multigrain Sandwich bun

1 slice edam cheese slice (we like the brand Tnuva), or any other yellow cheese you like like

½ avocado, sliced

½ cucumber, sliced

Fruit French Toast (Serves 4)

12 Apple Cinnamon Snacking Rounds

3 eggs, lightly beaten

2 tbsp. milk

2 tbsp. butter, divided

1 tsp. sugar

½ tsp. cinnamon, optional

Maple syrup, optional

Fresh fruit to garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

1/ In a large shallow dish, combine lightly beaten eggs with milk.

2/ In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and sugar.

3/ Using a fork, poke the Snacking Rounds 3 times in different areas - this will help the egg mixture soak in.

4/ Immerse rounds into milk and egg mixture, turn to coat both sides.

5/ Meanwhile, preheat large skillet to medium-high heat, melt 2 tbsp butter. Place 2 or 3 rounds into skillet and cook for 3 minutes or until golden; turn, cover and cook 3 more minutes or until golden brown and slightly puffy.

6/ Keep warm or serve immediately.

7/ Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon & sugar mixture.

8/ Top with maple syrup and fresh fruit, optional.

Let me know how you like it!
